A: Timesharing, or vacation ownership as it is often called, involves the purchase of condominium-style accommodations for a set amount of time each year, typically weekly. The process allows you to buy a lifetime of vacations "locked in" at today's prices.

As an Owner, you'll have the option of staying at your home resort every year, or exchanging your time for a vacation within the resort network. You also will have the flexibility of trading your weeks for Marriott Rewards® points, which are redeemable for stays at Marriott hotels and resorts worldwide - or airfare, cruises, car rentals, golf and more.

Q: What makes a Timeshare vacation different from a regular vacation?
A: Regular hotels and resorts typically offer one-bedroom or "suite" style accommodations. Marriott Vacation Club Villas more closely resemble condominiums with space, amenities and pricing a regular resort can't match. Villas come with up to three bedrooms, living and dining areas, full kitchens and up to two separate bathrooms. Imagine the escalating cost of a hotel room (or rooms) for you and your loved ones every year, and it’s easy to see the economical benefit of Timeshare ownership. But Timesharing offers so much more.

Vacation Club resorts are seen as close-knit communities where families can reconnect, with each other and with others, at a pace and in a space you just can’t find in traditional hotel surroundings.

Q: What types of Timeshares are there?
A: There are two basic Timeshare options: certificate ownership and deeded ownership. With certificate ownership, you enter into a "right-to-use" contract for a predetermined number of years. This is a common form of Timeshare outside the United States. With deeded ownership, you own the property indefinitely for the specified week(s) purchased.
Almost all Marriott Timeshares involve deeded ownership, so you own the property as long as you want, and you can even pass it on to your heirs

A: There's no "one size fits all" answer with Timeshare ownership. How much you spend depends on factors such as the size and location of your Timeshare to the time of year you use it. Prices for a MVCI Timeshare week range from $15,000 to $85,000.

Q: What ongoing expenses will I pay?
A: You will be responsible for an annual maintenance fee, which ensures that your home resort will be professionally managed to maintain the quality that makes Marriott such a comfortable choice. With deeded Vacation Ownership, you'll also be responsible for real estate taxes.
